Odds and ends weekend
Running: I started the day planning to do a 14 mile run with Doug. My calf felt fine, but after 7 miles I was plagued by cramps and by soreness in my knees. I had to stop and walk five or six times. I ended up running 11 miles (1:43:22, 9:20/mi) and walking about another mile home. Hopefully I can get back in the swing of things pretty soon.
House: I put up a second towel bar and ran a new light in our bathroom today, and started fooling with the shower curtain and a few other things in the guest bathroom. Erin has been working hard on the “remove the paint” project, stripping, sanding, and sanding like mad. The baby and guest bedroom are going to look great.
Research: I sent out proposals for two essays, “Content Management and Web Accessibility” and “The Logic of the Default” this weekend. I’m excited about these two new essays; read more about them under “In Progress” (at right). Later this week I need to complete my proposal for CCCC Computer Connection (I sent two brief ideas and a few questions to Doug Eyman today).
Garden: the days are getting shorter, the nights are getting cooler, and green things are starting to wind down. Our tomatoes are still producing, but not nearly as much as they have been. We still have quite a bit of peppers, chard, and kale, and the squash is really starting to come in as well.
Sports: Florida is getting killed by Alabama. Ow. Total collapse on offense, defense, coaching, special teams. Well boys, get up and get back there for next week. Thankfully, there’s a still a lot good college grid left today…

“Florida is getting killed by Alabama. Ow.”
I’m gonna fire up the grill and cook up some gator meat tonight to celebrate! Haw, haw!

Don’t gloat too much; that’s what happened to Florida. The SEC eats its young, and Bama has some very tough games remaining (Tenn, LSU, at Auburn).
I dream of running the table and exacting revenge in Atlanta…

Oh, I was just making fun of die-hard fans (I got my M.A. at Tennessee, and the grocery stores would have sales on gator meat when we played Florida). No one is more utterly indifferent to football than I am.

Too bad!
