Cold comes and goes

It was 12 degrees Thursday morning. Whee! I managed to run five miles with Doug in 42 minutes. When I got back, I had ice on my nose, eyelashes, and in my hair.

Our ancient windows are doing a so-so job of keeping the cold out. We’re replacing eight of them soon, but we’ll have to find a way to insulate the front of the house better.

But it’s warming up to 45° or so today—the sun is out!

Dude, you’re a freak! When it’s 12° out side, you don’t catch me running around freezing my ass off. `Course, maybe that’s what happened to your ass: You froze it off.

Still, 12° is just way too cold…

It is too damn cold. But ya gotta run. Otherwise, your ass gets bigger than your britches. Better no ass than a big ass.

How old is your house? We’ve got conflicting accounts that either put ours at just over 80 or 100. We think its probably over 100 (it looks more like the 100+ year old houses in the neighborhood than those built in the 1920s). We should probably check down at City Hall. It is a lot of work keeping an older house warm, but at least a previous owner put thermal windows in during the 1990s. Those help a lot.

It was built in the 1930s, so 75 years or so. City Hall doesn’t have a date, which I think is odd.
