Lovely beer
Recently I’ve opened three “new” beers: pale ale, porter, and barley wine. All American style (WLP 001 yeasts for the ales, 099 for the big beer, aggressively hopped with Cascade and Centennial), and all damned good. I say “new” because while the pale and porter are both fresh (brewed Jan 10) the barley wine is from last summer. But last week was the first time I’ve opened any of ‘em.
I have an 005 stout in secondary; need to bottle that soon, and then make maple porter, an IPA, Flemish red, and more barley wine.
You can never have enough barley wine.

“You can never have enough barley wine.”
No, you can’t.

Ah, home brewing! Bill Hart-Davidson bought the rig/set-up for home brewing a while back, and we (meaning me, Bill, and Steve Benninghoff) just recently finished bottling. Well, truth be told, Steve B. and I watched Bill as he did the heavy lifting. See this entry on my unofficial blog, for example.

Super news. There’s nothing like fresh beer!
Glad to see you folks using glass carboys. The starter kits are too often plastic. That sucks.

Mmmm. Barley wine. Will a bottle or two make it to Chicago?

Of course.
