It’s great to be a Florida Gator!
Florida began the season at 17-0. They lost three straight to end February. But they went into March fired up, and didn’t lose a game in March or April.
Only one team gets to be national champs—FLORIDA!

The gator logo is almost as bad the golden gopher. Almost.

The old gator is better. Note Yannick Noah’s sartorial sense; he wore a shirt with that classic logo to the finals.

His father wore Lacoste, as I remember.
I appreciated the comment he made about the UCLA cheerleaders making fun of him.

Maybe that was in the semis. Or maybe you are mistaking the old gator for the Lacoste emblem.
Joakim’s recounting of the cheerleader thing was indeed hilarious.

I’m talking about back in 80s. The basketball team has been objectively more successful than football over the last ten years, I should note.

They’re pretty equal, actually: the same number of national and SEC championships and the same late-season disappointments in 01-04. The football team has done a better job of dominating rivals (Georgia, Tennessee) but that’s in large part because basketball only really has one (Kentucky).
