Crawl and swim

Madelyn is crawling very well now. This means it’s impossible to leave her alone for longer than, say, three seconds, or she’ll get into trouble. Today she pulled up an area rug and started trying to play with the gripper mat underneath it. Then she tried to reach into one of the vents. Both times, as I moved her away from danger, she howled.

Yesterday, as a dry run for swimming lessons, we went to the Y for “family swim,” when all but one lane of the pool is devoted to screaming kids and their parents. Madelyn loved the pool–at first I think she was a little overwhelmed, but once she got accustomed to the din and the splashing, she really started to enjoy herself. As Erin and I walked her around the pool, she kicked and dog-paddled, and even put her face under the water a few times. Great news.

Grandma and Grandad Easterling arrive Wednesday, so Madelyn won’t be wanting for attention the next few weeks.
