Twenty miles
Doug and I ran twenty miles today. After last week’s debacle, I thought today’s run would make me feel like this:
But really, I feel more like this:

Why? Starting earlier than last week–it was 57° when we hit the road. I did a better job of pre-hydrating and eating, chowing down on potassium-rich food last night (beet greens, kale, and whole grain bread) and drinking a good quantity of water and soy milk this morning before we left. Most importantly, we paced very well; at the halfway point we were at 1:31, which is just about perfect.
My GPS has us at 20.4 miles, which would be 8:54/mi. If landmarks are right, the pace is 9:05. Either way, that’s faster than FIRST plan pace (9:08) and fine by me.
And now that I think of it, didn’t Young hang 20 miles of offense on that Pac-10 “defense?” Heh heh heh.
