While it has been difficult for me to cross-train this week, I’ve had two good runs so far.
8/8: speed work. Warm up with 1 brisk mile (7:58), then 1K (4:13), 2K (8:49), 3 x 1K (4:15, 3:59, 3:58). That’s 6:25/mi for the fast 1K intervals. I felt like I could easily do two or three more of those.
8/10: 10 mile tempo run, 1:23:52 (8:23/mi). This was very tough because of very high humidity (100%!) and lack of sleep (Madelyn is still teething, and I’m mulling over my do list a bit too much). Doug pushed me through it.
Fifteen miles at 8:33/mi Saturday.
The tempo run projects to a 3:53 (8:51/mi) marathon. Doug and I will probably run the front half at that pace, and speed up for the second half if we feel good. Six more weeks of training…
I’m already thinking about post-marathon running. Given that we’ll be heading into winter, the season of ice and teaching, I think I’m going to focus on speed work from October to April, with one long run a week (8, 10, or 13 miles). Plus, I like running fast. Why not try to go faster?
You rock. I need you to be my coach. Gimme a schedule! Yell at me!
Naw, you need a running partner. I wouldn’t have been out of bed had it not been for Doug ragging my ass the last time I skipped a run.
Got 15 miles today in 2:08:02 (8:32/mi). Mild conditions; a great day for a run. We even got to run into the wind for a bit on the way back.
