Back on the road
This week I ran a few times with Madelyn in the stroller, which is great–I’m glad she’s getting more happy with that.
10/2, 30 minutes with Madelyn, didn’t worry about distance, just getting out there to run.
10/6, 5K in 25:50, then 2 miles at 9:30. Madelyn seemed to really enjoy this run: she cooed and chattered almost the whole time.
Today, 10/7, ran a 5K race; a breast cancer benefit. Finished in 24:30, third overall, which surprised me–I expected some high school or college cross country folks to show up and run a sub-20. After the race, a couple runners compared GPS distance, and two of us had 3.3 miles. So that’s either 7:26 or 7:52/mi, depending on which distance is right.
A fellow Road Runner, the recently retired Dennis Werling, kept time at the race this morning. He emailed me last week to ask for my marathon story. And Dennis shared his: he recently ran the Twin Cities Marathon in 3:38. At age 66! I can only dream of being that fast. And believe me, I am.
