Shaping up

Though I haven’t written very much about it, since because my Garmin Forerunner died my record-keeping has been lax, I have been exercising often lately, and I’m starting to get back in shape. Last week I ran three times with Doug, including a half-marathon on Sunday, 7/29 (2:03, or 9:22/mi). I also swam twice (miles, in about 0:50) and biked all over creation pulling Madelyn in the stroller, which is more of a workout than I thought it would be.

I still weigh about 10 lbs more than I did last year at marathon time, but that’ll be fixed soon enough. This year I won’t be doing the QC marathon—I’m not up to the long distances, given that Sunday’s run was my longest in months—but I do plan to run the half. Heck, maybe I could finish in 1:45… that would be 8:00/mi.

Right now I’m breaking in two new pairs of shoes: Asics GT2120 @ 14EE, and some New Balance 505s @ 13EE. The former for distance, the latter for speed work. And I’m wondering if I should get a pair of these shoes for really long runs…
