Running reboot

Since I ran a marathon in September 2006 my running has been irregular. I’ve run a lot more than my weblog shows, but not as much as I should. It’s time to fix that:

  1. I’ve looked down on running for less than 40 minutes. No longer. From now on, if I can only manage 20 minutes, that’s fine.
  2. As much as I dislike it, I’m going make more use of my treadmill. I’ll also go to the Y more often.
  3. Erin helped by buying me a Forerunner 305. (She’ll take over my 201.)

As the Garmin site claims, the 305 is much improved over the 201. It finds satellites quicker, loses them less often, and includes a heart monitor, which is great. The computer interface is USB, not old-fashioned serial. The Garmin software is mediocre, but functional.

In the past ten days, I’ve logged four runs (0:35 or more), including one 8.3 mile at 9:00 pace. Here’s a reasonable goal: three runs every week, for all of 2008.
