O coffee
I am now drinking my first cup of coffee since Saturday 2/23.
O Coffee! Thou dost dispel all cares, thou are the
object of desire to the scholar.
This is the beverage of the friends of God; it gives
health to those in its service who strive after wisdom.
Why did I deprive myself of the elixir of life? A nasty, nasty case of influenza. I literally couldn’t get out of bed at times. 102° and all manner of digestive mayhem. Bad enough that my doctor wanted to admit me to the hospital for rehydration. As of this morning, I’m down eight pounds. And now Erin is showing the symptoms I did last week. Ugh.
Yes, O Coffee, I need you now.

Oh, man. I’m glad you’re feeling better and I really hope Erin doesn’t get it as bad as you did.

I had the death-flu over Christmas myself, though it must not have been that bad. I could eat.

I ate a little, but not because I really wanted to. Mostly, the problem was the dehydration. I just couldn’t drink enough fluid to replenish what I was losing because of the fever and other nasties.
At last, it looks like I’m 100% now, and Erin seems to have avoided the worst as well.

I tried to quit drinking coffee and lasted about two or three weeks. I was going strong and headed to my morning stop at the OD and some miserable wretch was brewing coffee along the way, and it wafted out to the front of their home! I’ve been off the wagon with no desire to get back on!
