Research Prospectus Form
Looking at possible format for Prospectus. Feedback on what to include would be helpful. Is this too detailed?
- Working title
- Statement of topic for research: include why I chose topic? what fascinates me? background/history? my qualifications/preparation
- Main research question(s) intend to answer: how specific should this be?
- Intuitive answers to questions: provides position to test and criticize; identify bias? project applications? possible outcomes? what I hope to achieve?
- Summary of basic arguments surrounding topic
- Chapter outline; sequencing of research progress–plan to move through exploration of topic?
- List of research materials: working bib

Katie, your prospectus format looks good. Right now, without having seen any texts, I’m not sure where my research is headed. As soon as the texts arrive–supposedly “Guide” and “Errors” were to be shipped by today–I’ll skim through and report back to you. Or, maybe you’ve already secured copies yourself. I’m game for a road trip to Macomb in early June to discuss projects with Bradley.
On another subject, I still haven’t seen “the form” for registering for this class. I wrote to Dr. Mossman, but he hasn’t responded. What type of form are we expecting and from whom?
You’ve done a lot to facilitate our access to discussions and posting about the texts. Thanks, Nan

This looks very comprehensive! It might be too much detail. Since it’s a prospectus, it’s prospective. Specifically, I’m thinking that #4 #5 and #6 may be too much to ask. #2 and #3 are the most important, and #7 would be good as well.
Don’t worry about the independent study form. I emailed something to Mossman last week. We’ll get everything taken care of when I get out of the woods (which I am heading back to in a few minutes).

Sounds good, Bradley.
I received an email saying I was registered for the independent study, so the billing should be close behind. Books on order—looking forward to breaking them open.
Been exploring the RMH bibs. Lots of info there to peruse. Many different searches brought up the same site.
