Lunch talk
Katie, Nan and I had a nice lunch yesterday at the Skyline Inn; I was too busy having a good conversation to say that the food was pretty darn good. (I had a grilled tenderloin sandwich: yum!) And looking out the window and seeing a Blue Angels F-18 zip by at 300mph was pretty cool.
Katie turned in a prospectus focusing on ethics; I’ve asked her to present it here (as a top-level posting) so we can comment on it. I’d like everyone to do the same so we can move to the next stage of work, which is finding texts to complement those we’ve already read, given your specific areas of interest. Given that I want to be done with everything by August 20, July 10-15 should be your time frame for a rough draft. That would enable me to look at a second more complete draft if you like.
Also, I’ll be in the QC Wed 07/23, Fri 08/01, and Sat 08/09; on those days I could meet to hand over and/or talk about drafts &c. I think we’ll want to meet again before that, perhaps the week of 07/07. What does everyone think?

Thanks again for a good lunch–and a great discussion. My tuna croissant was what I call a “commitment sandwich”–once you pick it up and start noshing, it’s so messy that you can’t lay it down again before you polish it off without embarrassing yourself. And I’m glad that you appreciated how Katie and I arranged for a Blue Angels F-18 to take off right outside the window as a little surprise for you.
As for the week of July 7, any day that week works for me to meet again.

Monday 7/7 or Tuesday 7/8 would work best for me. I am on the road beginning 7/9 shuttling kids off to camps, etc., through the weekend.
As for 7/23, 8/01–those work well for me. My family leaves for Hilton Head, SC 8/8 and I will be back in the QC 8/17…just in time for the start of school!

I have a meeting July 7 at 1:00 for school, and I’m busy July 8-12 (also for school), but I could do morning of July 7. I would love to actually meet in person at some point!

Okay, it looks like a breakfast 7/7 will work best for everyone; let’s pencil that in. Let me check with Erin; would 7/6 PM work as well, or are Sundays bad?

I can confirm Monday morning early (?) would work well or Sunday evening as a backup. I will possibly be serving on a hiring committee for interviews later that morning. I can even offer my home on Sunday. The boys are out of town at a White Sox game and my daughter will undoubtedly be sleeping after her weeklong mission trip to SD. There is plenty of room and we can potluck it with dinner. Just let me know. Nothing fancy, just private and comfortable.

My commitment on Monday starts at 1:00, so we could do anything early or Sunday evening. Either works for me. Sunday is slightly better, but only slightly. Thanks for offering your house, Katie! I’d love to come, and food is always good . . .

Spoke with my department head this morning. Interviews begin at 9:00 am on Monday, so if it works for everyone, could we swing the Sunday evening? I hate to feel rushed–that is, unless everyone wants to do a farmer’s breakfast (up with the rooster!).

OK, so Sunday evening 07/06 works for everyone? Sounds good to me.
